One thing I get asked often as an author is, "Where do you get the inspiration?" I'm certain every author gets this. The truth is, inspiration doesn't come easy. Most of what I do comes from my life. All the characters in the Maid for Majesty trilogy were all based upon people I knew and places I had gone. When I wrote it, I was also in a terrible time in my life. I seemed to be trying to escape everything in my world and I wanted an escape. When I first started writing it, I wasn't sure I was going to finish it. But that is the funny thing about writing. It starts out as just an idea, but then you get addicted; inspiration came of working. Before I knew it, writing became the thing I enjoyed doing most. When I was writing the trilogy, I'd watch the clock at work, and try to duck out quickly before my boss would try to nab me to stay a little longer. Writing that I chuckle now, before writing it used to be an afternoon drink or shopping with a friend.
My next release is a little different. Not just because it's a Steamy Contemporary (rather than a Historical Erotica). Touchdown was not only of people I knew; it was an inspiration of experiences I had. In my twenties, I lived in several different cities and many of my experiences could easily be written into books, which is why I decided to write "The Big Apple Series." I further decided to add a new pen name - Alexa Summers. The style of Maid for Majesty and The Big Apple Series is so different. While Maid for Majesty is third person omnipresent, Big Apple is first person, changing views between the main characters.
Each book is drawn from real life experiences I had when I felt like my life had no clock and I could do whatever I pleased, whenever I pleased. Like many people, my twenties were full of emotional highs and lows. I met all sorts of people from different walks of life, did a lot of interesting things and I sometimes question how I'm still here to tell the tales.
